Efrain Ascanio: Evolving the area of Architecture
“Cutting-Edge Technology” were the first words that came to Efrain Ascanio’s mind when we asked him about his nearly 18 months of work at DBAccess.“Working with cutting-edge technology puts us one step ahead in the Venezuelan market and in position to compete in parity in the overseas market”, he commented.
Efrain is a Computer Engineer, graduated from Universidad Simon Bolivar in 2001, and he works as a level III Architecture Specialist in DBAccess’ Operations Direction. He has participated in projects such as RM V1, EOYC V1.0, ETS V3.0, EOYC V1.1, GST, Mobile Evaluation, Videos Online V1.1, Bancaribe Entrust Installation, andPDA ,among others.
What important goals have you accomplished in these nearly 18 months with the company?
I think basically two things stand out: being considered by my peers as a person they can count on and consult anytime about technical details in various technological areas pertaining to the company (especially according to my own colleagues in Bridje, CNA’s J2EE development framework); all this without forgetting other areas such as J2EE development, finance, insurance, mobile technology, standards, etc. Secondly, having formed and helped evolve the architecture area together with Juancarlo Añez and Pedro Garcia, to the point of taking it to Direction status.
Along this road, I have felt the notable quality improvements in the technical quality of software projects developed by the company, which I consider to be a very positive contribution to the Operations area. I have seen the company’s total turnaround from the time we had no real concept of quality to today, when we have a certification and the Operations processes are well defined.
What company values do you identify with?
Teamwork. We have learned throughout this time to work as a team, even virtually, at a distance; which requires a totally different focus to traditional teamwork where every member is present.
What are your personal and professional challenges in the years to come? How do you plan to overcome them?
A postgraduate degree, a Masters’ Degree, possibly in the fields of management, international business or finance.
If you could relate an important personal dream, which would it be?
Keep my family close together.
What kinds of projects do you enjoy to carry out?
Challenging and interesting ones.
